EcoGrowlers

The EcoGrowlers are listed at the bottom of this page.

The EcoGrowler is a ground-breaking product which is a complete game changer in the world of carbonated beverage containers.  In a realm where inefficient glass and aluminum products dominate the terrain, it is high time we introduce a product that shines above the traditional options with a bevy of ecological and economical benefits that will most assuredly pique your interest, and ultimately, change the landscape forever.

When compared to the traditional glass growler, EcoGrowler is simply the ideal option.  For consumers, its functionality, cost, and eco-friendly design reigns supreme.  For brewers and other beverage creators, the benefits continue to multiply.

Advantages vs. Glass Growler

  •  Total light & oxygen elimination keeps your beer fresh 2-3x longer than a glass growler.
  • Exclusive patented design is the only collapsable carbonation-retaining product of its kind.
  • Proprietary sealing cap features an oxygen-scavenging material that completely rids contents of oxygen molecules.
  • Incredibly Eco-Friendly – EcoGrowler boasts an impressive 97% liquid content percentage (to material), compared to 65% for glass.
  • Lower Carbon Footprint – We can manufacture about 20 EcoGrowlers for about the same aluminum as it takes to make one can.
  • EcoGrowler is allowed and preferred where glass isn’t – Beach / Bike / Trail.
  • It’s not only Reusable, it’s Lightweight and Shatterproof.

SHELF LIFE

The contents of glass growlers may have a shelf life lasting only a few days due to oxidation from the residual air in the container. EcoGrowler has no airspace and without oxygen exposure you can expect a shelf life far longer than glass alternatives. The actual shelf life of any beer may vary with a number of differing factors, including the ingredients themselves. For optimum results the EcoGrowler must remain cold. The effective shelf life will vary from product to product, but we know this: eliminating oxygen and light are two essential elements in preserving the taste of beer and we accomplish these tasks better than any other packaging alternative on the market.

GREATLY REDUCED OXYGEN EXPOSURE

Users wet-seal the Ecogrowler by squeezing out all the air. The container is safety sealed by tightening the cap down on the fluid (with no airspace remaining in the growler).

OXYGEN SCAVENGER CAP

Once the EcoGrowler cap is screwed down tight there is little or no airspace, meaning a greatly reduced exposure of the contents to oxygen. For those few, rogue, oxygen molecules that may remain in the package, we have incorporated the use of a specialized oxygen trap. This is built into our cap. The scavenger device lets any excess oxygen trapped inside the pouch in, but then captures the oxygen molecules and will not release them back into the contents. This specialized feature is significantly beneficial to the shelf life and fresh flavor of your beer.

PRODUCT STRUCTURE

We utilize a unique, proprietary, laminated structure which is FDA approved, and includes (but is not limited to) PET / AL / NY / LLDPE. Nylon allows the growler to stretch into rigidity. The inner foil layer protects the contents of the pouch as a CO2 barrier. Our outer layer is an abrasion proof coating which allows our containers to be shipped next to each other without abrasion damage. We print in reverse rotogravure on the clear exterior abrasion-proofing layer for high quality laminated labels in quantities over 60,000 units. This a patented product in the USA and internationally, unique in structure, purpose and design.

CONTACT LAYER

As brewers, we are most picky about flavor. Our unique, organoleptic film structure ensures absolute no taste alteration of your product; there is no transference of flavor from our packaging to your product whatsoever. The dense, patented film structure is designed to handle the pouch “stretch” after filling and carbonation expansion to rigidity. The interior or “contact” layer is like a vault for flavor, protecting the subtle nuances of the contents.

FITMENT AND CAP

The simple screw-top fitment has been designed to accommodate our “carbonation cap ”. This includes an oxygen scavenger layer within the cap to eliminate rogue oxygen molecules left after filling and sealing.

FILLING THE ECOGROWLER

Unlike a bottle, the filling process is such that there is no headspace upon sealing the container. While a growler filling tube is commonly used successfully, a TurboTap® (www.turbotap.com) filling tool is highly recommended for the filling of the EcoGrowler. The TurboTap® fills from the bottom up, and reduces the amount of CO2 released in the growler. This can be a great aid to maximize the shelf life. With either the growler filling tube or the TurboTap®, a seal made between the tube and spout will aid in stretching the container and filling it to capacity.

WHAT BEVERAGES CAN ECOGROWLER HANDLE?

EcoGrowler has developed and marketed the first flexible beverage container made for ALL beverages, particularly sparkling or carbonated beverages like soda, beer, champagne and carbonated energy drinks. We also carefully package wine, juices, liquor, water, or base ingredients. No matter your liquid, we’re capable of handling it.

ECONOMY AND ECOLOGY

The aseptic package is an excellent example of minimal packaging. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) calls aseptics a “great example of source reduction [reducing the amount of packaging for a single product],” an EPA priority.

An aseptic package is typically 97 percent beverage to 3 percent packaging. PET bottles are 93 percent product to 7 percent packaging; cans are 89 percent product to 11 percent packaging; and glass bottles are 65 percent product to 35 percent packaging all by weight.

RECYCLABLE MATERIALS

Essentially, EcoGrowlers are now indeed 100% recyclable. New technology welcomes this package as a breakthrough for the future, and many items, including building materials, are made from this type of laminated structure. It is often said that these new versions of aseptic packages amount to the greenest form of commercial packaging in the world.

Filling EcoGrowler

The name of the game is eliminating all the oxygen so you can experience the benefit of significantly elongated freshness thanks to both 100% light and air elimination.

No matter if you’re simply at home pouring a few brews in your EcoGrowler for a float down the river, or you’re an avid homebrewer or tap room owner utilizing our filling tube for a max pour, once you’re done filling the growler, gently squeeze it until a little liquid pours over onto the threads of the mouth. Tighten the cap down while this happens, and you’ve successfully rid the container of air. In fact, thanks to our oxygen scavenging layer on the inside of the cap, any rogue air molecules will be trapped so they can’t spoil your precious beverage!

If you are equipped with one of our handy dandy filling tubes, the process is a breeze. Simply insert the tube into the EcoGrowler, and tighten the stopper on the mouth to create a seal. To prevent foaming, it’s ideal to start filling from your tap slightly after you pull the handle to avoid excess oxygen being forced into the pour.

Allow the EcoGrowler to fully expand to capacity, and as soon as liquid starts to show in the filling tube above the stopper, you know you’re all set. Turn off your tap, pull out the filling tube, and initiate the ‘wet sealing’ process just mentioned above.

Storing EcoGrowler

Once your EcoGrowler is filled, it is absolutely imperative to keep it cold at all times to maintain freshness and avoid issues associated with overheating. While your growler features two fractable seals that will allow gas to slowly escape in the event it warms up or is hyper-agitated, err on the side of making sure to toss a couple ice packs in your bag with it if you’re planning on going for a hike, playing 18 holes, sunbathing at the beach, etc.

Cleaning EcoGrowler

As soon as you’ve finished the deliciousness inside your EcoGrowler, make sure to cleanse it thoroughly to avoid bacterial growth and return it to a pristine state. Breweries will not fill unsanitary containers of any type, and our growler is certainly no exception to this rule. We recommend rinsing it out with warm water and soap a couple times by filling it partially, tightening down the cap, and shaking vigorously. Then one additional time with clean water to get it back to its original odorless awesomeness. To clean the mouth of Ecogrowler and the threads of the cap, a little soap and toothbrush scrub will do the trick.
